It's Friday, August 30, and we have another prime matchup on the WNBA slate between the Indiana Fever (15-16, 6-11 away) and the Chicago Sky (11-19, 4-11 home). The third meeting of the season, the Fever have a 2-1 series lead over the Sky, and find themselves as five-point favorites for tonight's matchup.
Winners of two consecutive games against the Connecticut Sun and Atlanta Dream, can the Fever knock off the Chicago Sky, who are losers of four straight games?
15-16 on the WNBA season, the Fever find themselves as the no. 7 seed.
11-19 on the season, the Chicago Sky recently went through a roster shakeup, which may affect the outcome of tonight's game.
With the evolution and importance of Angel Reese, the Sky traded Marina Mabrey to the Connecticut Sun in exchange for Rachel Banham and Moriah Jefferson.
In addition, star guard Chennedy Carter is ruled out for tonight's game due to health and safety protocols.
With just three wins over the last 10 matchups, the Sky have dropped four straight against the Washington Mystics, Las Vegas Aces, Connecticut Sun, and Phoenix Mercury.

Season Matchups:
The Indiana Fever are playing some fantastic basketball as of late, after starting the season 0-5. With much speculation about Caitlin Clark's adjustment to the league, it's safe to say she's found her way.
However, this is a very talented Fever team that goes well beyond Clark, which WNBA fans and bettors are starting to witness.
Claiming victories in four of the last five games, it's ball fluid ball movement, increased chemistry, and all around team usage that's helped the Fever become a spread favorite to bet on.
By inserting Lexie Hull into the starting lineup, she provides Indiana with a solid three-point threat.
Indiana has also learned to better utilize Aliyah Boston in pick and rolls. Tallying two double-doubles in the last three games, the former Rookie of the Year has established chemistry with Clark, especially with high-low plays and high-ball screens.
And of course, there's Caitlin Clark, who's currently the WNBA Rookie of the Year leader with -3000 odds. Sure, she's known for her notorious deep ball shots, especially from the logo. Averaging 18 points and 5.7 rebounds, and 8.1 assists on the season, it's her court vision that has bettors talking.
Favoring her PRAs for tonight, she's the WNBA leader in assists for a reason.
I love the Indiana Fever to cover the spread bet tonight with -112 odds. Not terribly juiced, this is clearly a team that operates on production from multiple players. Although they rank second to last in most points allowed per game (86.5), they have an excellent matchup with the Sky tonight.
Overall, I love this spread bet based on the momentum this team has heading into this matchup.
Tonight, the Fever find themselves as favorites, after covering the 1.5 underdog point spread against the Sky earlier in the season. 2-1 against Chicago on the season, they hold a 6-point differential throughout three games against them. With two games decided by one point or less, you're probably wondering why I picked the Fever to cover tonight.
My reasoning is that the Sky are a young team, and they've regressed. That's not to say the talent isn't there.
However, the loss of Marina Mabrey and the absence of Chennedy Carter will be a tough challenge to overcome against a red-hot Fever team. Averaging less than 80 points a game, this is a Chicago team that struggled to barely put up 70 points against the Mystics. Without Carter, they automatically lose the catalyst behind their offensive production and scoring.
7-14 against the spread as underdogs, the Sky also hold a terrible spread coverage record of 5-10 at home this season.
Overall, I am laying the points with the Indiana Fever tonight.
This is a team that fights until the very end, with only an eight-point differential in three straight losses. More impressively, they missed out on victories against the Aces and Sun by just two points.
If Carter were present for this matchup, perhaps I would lay the points with Chicago. However, it will be hard to replace a player who's averaging 20.6 points over the last five games and 20 points against Indiana this season.
I also worry about the Sky's lack of three-point shooting, as they are making just 30 percent on the season. Over the last five games, the Sky are hitting just 31.1 percent of their shots from downtown.
